"Se presentan los primeros registros de las diatomeas Nanofrustulum shiloi y Nitzschia nienhuisii para las costas de México. Las observaciones corresponden al oeste del Golfo de California y el noreste de la Península de Yucatán y Caribe Mexicano. Se proporcionan datos morfométricos y autoecológicos inéditos, así como imágenes de los taxones tomadas con microscopía electrónica de barrido y óptica. El registro de estos taxa contribuye a la riqueza florística de diatomeas de México, evidenciando la presencia de taxones otrora confundidos e inyectando confianza a la base taxonómica requerida en estudios ulteriores ya sean de carácter ecológico y/o biogeográficos.""We present the first records of the diatoms Nanofrustulum shiloi and Nitzschia nienhuisii for the Mexican coasts. Observations correspond to the western Gulf of California and the northeastern Yucatán peninsula and Mexican Caribean. Morfometric and ecological data are provided together with SEM and optic microscope images. These records contribute to underline the floristic richness of diatoms in the Mexican coasts by showing the occurrence of taxa otherwise confused in previous studies, thus providing a much needed confidence to the taxonomic basis required in subsequent ecological or biogeographic studies."
