dc.description"El cultivo de camarón ha sido la actividad de acuicultura más importante en México en los últimos 20 años y su desarrollo ha dependido en gran medida de la aplicación de la investigación científica y tecnológica. En esta reseña se presentan antecedentes sobre la creación del grupo de investigación del CIBNOR enfocado al cultivo del camarón y su vinculación con la industria, y se muestran datos de productividad académica que ha sido base de su consolidación como un prominente grupo de investigación acuícola en el ámbito nacional e internacional. Asimismo, se resumen algunos de los resultados académicos más relevantes en el ámbito de las siguientes especialidades: Nutrición, Sanidad, Genética y Genómica, y Fisiología y Reproducción. Se concluye con reflexiones acerca de los temas de investigación y desarrollo tecnológico de frontera que será necesario afrontar en los próximos años para que el cultivo de camarón contribuya a atender el gran reto de nuestro país en la producción de alimentos en un marco de sostenibilidad ambiental."
dc.description"Shrimp farming has been the most important aquaculture activity in Mexico for the past 20 years, and its development has been highly dependent on scientifi c and technological research. This review provides background information of the research group dedicated to shrimp farming at CIBNOR and its linkage with industry. It also shows the academic productivity data that has been the basis for the consolidation of this prominent aquaculture research group both at the national and international level. It discusses an overview of some of the most relevant academic results in the specialties of Nutrition, Aquatic Health, Genetics and Genomics, and Physiology and Reproduction and concludes with considerations about borderline topics on research and technological development that the group will have to face in the following years to make shrimp farming a main contributor to sustainable feed production."
