| dc.description.abstract | "El uso intensivo de compuestos químicos potencialmente tóxicos para el ambiente y la salud humana es una problemática de gran interés para los gobiernos y la sociedad en general. En la industria agrícola se emplean una gran variedad de compuestos químicos como fertilizantes y plaguicidas. Este capítulo aborda en forma general las principales características químicas, biológicas, tóxicas y ambientales de los plaguicidas; enfocándose en los efectos secundarios y dañinos que estos generan, como: enfermedades graves y alteraciones de regulación génica y en el ciclo celular; entre otras. Adicionalmente se describen algunas de las estrategias y herramientas utilizadas para reconocer e identificar estos compuestos; en muestras ambientales (agua y suelo) y de individuos (sangre, orina, etc.); aborda el uso de biomarcadores moleculares y de las ciencias “omicas”. Finalmente, este trabajo incluye la descripción de trabajos recientes realizados en el análisis e identificación de residuos de plaguicidas, efecto generado en biomarcadores moleculares y la identificación de moléculas nuevas que puedan funcionar como biomarcadores. Todos estos trabajos fueron realizados en una población urbano/rural con intensa actividad agrícola y turística, perteneciente al municipio de La Paz. | dc.description.abstracten | "The intensive use of chemical compounds potentially toxic to the environment and human health is a problem of great interest to governments and society in general. In the agricultural industry, a wide variety of compounds are used as fertilizers and pesticides. This chapter is addressed the main chemical, biological, toxic and environmental characteristics of pesticides; focusing on the secondary and harmful effects that these generate, such as: serious diseases and alterations in gene regulation and the cell cycle; among other. Additionally, some of the strategies and tools used to recognize and identify these compounds are described; in environmental samples (water and soil) and from individuals (blood, urine, etc.); addresses the use of molecular biomarkers and “omics” sciences. Finally, this work includes the description of recent studies carried out in the analysis and identification of pesticide residues, the effect generated in molecular biomarkers and the identification of new molecules that can function as biomarkers. All these works were carried out in an urban/rural population with intense agricultural and tourist activity, belonging to the municipality of La Paz.
