"Se efectúa una breve revisión del desarrollo de la pesquería de camarón de altamar en el litoral sonorense. Dicha revisión contempla origen, regulación y tendencia de la captura y el esfuerzo en el periodo de 1939 a 1997. Se observó que esta pesquería ha mostrado desde sus inicios una alta variabilidad interanual en las capturas, no explicada totalmente por el esfuerzo pesquero, y que pudiera tener relación con la rápida respuesta de estos organismos al medio ambiente imperante.""A brief revision of the development of the open sea shrimp fishery at the Sonora coast is made. This takes into account the origin, regulation, and tendency of the catch and effort in the period from 1939 to 1997. This fishery has shown a high interannual variability of catches from its beginnings. This variability it is not fully explained by the fishing effort, and so it could have some relation with the rapid response of these organisms to the prevailing environment."
