dc.description"Se presentan los resultados de un análisis espectral en el dominio del tiempo y en el dominio de la frecuencia de la temperatura, salinidad y nivel medio del mar, tres variables oceanográficas de las más usadas como indicadoras de cambios ambientales en el Golfo de California para el periodo de 1952 a 1996. La información fue obtenida de la estación mareográfica de Guaymas, Sonora. Los resultados muestran una marcada estacionalidad en todas las series, con tendencia creciente en el nivel medio del mar y una tendencia a disminución en la salinidad, la cual presenta además alta heterogeneidad, mientras que la temperatura mostró una tendencia ascendente hasta 1978 y un posterior descenso hasta 1996. Los ciclos más recurrentes en las tres variables analizadas fueron el ciclo de 2.5 años que pudiera ser el reflejo (alterado) del ciclo cuasi bienal de la circulación estratosférica, relacionados con la actividad solar; y el ciclo de 3.5 años, posiblemente relacionado con eventos de larga escala espacial como el evento El Niño. Adicionalmente la temperatura y el nivel medio del mar mostraron un ciclo de 11-12 años posiblemente relacionado a procesos astronómicos como las manchas solares. La temperatura mostró además un ciclo de 45 años, del cual deberá ser explorado el mecanismo causal."
dc.description"Results are presented of an spectral analysis in the dominion of time and in the dominion of the frequency of temperature, salinity and mean sea level, three of the oceanographic variables most used as indicators of environmental changes in the Gulf of California for the period from 1952 to 1996. The information was obtained from the mareographic station of Guaymas, Sonora. Results show a marked seasonality in all series, with an increasing tendency in the mean sea level, and a tendency to decrease in salinity, which also shows a high heterogeneity. Meanwhile temperature showed an ascending tendency to 1978, and a later decrease to 1996. The most recurrent cycles in the three analyzed variables were the cycle of 2.5 years which could be the reflection (altered) of the cuasi biennial cycle of stratospheric circulation, related to solar activity. The 3.5 years cycle, possibly related to large spatial scale events, such as El Niño event. Additionally, temperature and mean sea level showed a 11 – 12 years cycle possibly related to astronomic processes such as the solar spots. Temperature also showed a 45 years cycle the causal mechanism of which should be explored."
