dc.description"En este trabajado partimos del concepto de paisaje como una unidad espacio-temporal en donde sociedad y naturaleza se interrelacionan. Bajo este contexto estudiamos la transformación sociocultural y ambiental sobre una selva seca del noreste mexicano. Describimos las condiciones físicas y biológicas del sitio, la sociedad que allí vive y la forma de cómo algunas actividades productivas modifican procesos naturales. Para ello sintetizamos varios estudios relativos a la importancia de los rancheros como un factor identitario y al efecto de las actividades humanas sobre el ambiente. En esta reflexión concluimos que la condición actual de esta selva es el resultado de más de trescientos años de manejo, que la cultura ranchera es el producto de esta estrecha relación hombre-naturaleza, y que en términos del paisaje, el elemento que se encuentra en proceso de extinción es la cultura ranchera, entendiendo por ello, el proceso que anula la capacidad de sobrevivencia de los rancheros como grupo social. "
dc.description"In this paper we assume the landscape as a space-temporal unit, where society and nature are interrelated. In this context we study the cultural and environmental transformation of a tropical dry forest of Northwest Mexico. We describe the nature of the site, the society and how productive activities modify natural process. We synthesize several studies regarding the importance of the ranchers as identity factor and the effect of human activities on the environment. In this sense we concluded that the actual condition of this tropical forest is the consequence of three centuries of human management, that the rancher culture is product of this close relationship between humans and nature. In a landscape perspective, the element that is threatened is the rancher culture, understanding by this, the process that limits the capacity to survive of the ranchers as social group."
