dc.descriptionEl Golfo de California es una de las regiones más diversas del Océano Pacífico Oriental Tropical (OPOT) con alrededor de 822 especies de peces, 92 de ellas endémicas (Thomson et al., 2000). La amplia biodiversidad en esta área ha permitido que se considere al Golfo de California como un centro de origen equivalente al de Centroamérica, además de que se encuentra entre los cinco ecosistemas marinos con mayor productividad biológica en el mundo (Enríquez-Andradeet. al., 2005; Lara-Lara et al., 2008). El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar la composición estructural y la diversidad taxonómica delos peces arrecifales y su relación con factores ambientales en una zona costera de la bahía de La Paz (ZCBP) y de la Isla San José (ISJ), en el suroeste del Golfo de California. Para ello, se concretaron 12 campañas bimestrales de censos visuales: de marzo de 2001 a febrero de 2002 en la ISJ, y de abril de 2002 a marzo de 2003 en la ZCBP,para lo cual se realizaron transectos de 100 m de largo por 5 m de ancho en 8 localidades de la Isla San José y 8 en la costa oeste de la bahía de La Paz. Los censos se realizaron a una profundidad promedio de 5 metros. La temperatura del agua fue el parámetro que mostró una mayor variación y, con base en su registro, se observaron en cada área de estudiodos temporadas climáticas: una templada y la otra cálida. Se registraron un total de 51,241 organismos pertenecientes a 133 especies, de las cuales 112 especies se observaron en la isla y 92 en la bahía. Considerando la composición y la diversidad taxonómica, se puede concluir que la ISJ tiene sitios con una mayor estabilidad, diversidad y abundancia que la ZCBP.
dc.descriptionThe Gulf of California is one of the most diverse regions of the Tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean (TEPO) with around 822 species of fish, 92 of them endemic (Thomson et al., 2000).The high biodiversity in this area has seen the Gulf of California as a center of origin equivalent to that of Central America and is among the five most productive marine ecosystems in the world biological (Enriquez-Andrade, et al., 2005, Lara- Lara et al., 2008).This study aims to determine the general structural composition and taxonomic diversity of reef fish and its relationship with environmental factors in a coastal area of the Bay of La Paz and San Jose Island in the southwestern Gulf of California.This bimonthly 12 campaigns were implemented visual census in March 2001 to February 2002 at ISJ and April 2002 to March 2003 in the ZCBP, this will transects 100 m long by 5 m wide by 8 towns of San Jose Island and 8 in the west coast of the Bay of La Paz, censuses were conducted at an average depth of 5 meters.The water temperature was the parameters that showed a greater variation and based on their record were observed in each study area two climatic seasons, one warm and one warm.There were a total of 51,241 organisms belonging to 133 species, of which 112 species were observed on the island and 92 in the bay. Considering the taxonomic composition and diversity can be concluded that the ISJ has sites with greater stability, diversity and abundance that ZCBP.
