dc.description"El objetivo de este Capítulo es describir los principales aspectos de la estructura y del funcionamiento de los ecosistemas del Área Natural Protegida Sierra Fría (ANPSF) localizada en el estado de Aguascalientes, México. Esta región cuenta con protección legal desde fines de los años 40 del siglo pasado. Sin embargo aún no tiene su programa de manejo. El ANPSF incluye una diversidad biológica muy significativa, que ofrece servicios ambientales que son muy importantes para la promoción del bienestar social de los habitantes de la región aledaña a ella. Sin embargo, a la fecha, los ecosistemas incluidos en el ANPSF están amenazados por una amplia gama de disturbios como las sequias, los incendios, el sobrepastoreo, el cambio de uso del suelo y diversos agentes biológicos, por lo que se requiere de manera urgente la elaboración de su programa de manejo y conservación, el cual debe orientar, ordenar y determinar las actividades que deban realizarse por los diferentes sectores que concurren en la región. Para la elaboración de este programa de manejo, se sugiere se aplique un enfoque integral a la escala del paisaje, con un planteamiento participativo y flexible. Este tipo de enfoque pone énfasis en las actividades de aprendizaje y de colaboración social. El manejo a la escala del paisaje es el adecuado para garantizar el aprovechamiento y la conservación con tácticas y acciones dirigidas hacia la sustentabilidad y la conservación de ecosistemas con usos económicos y sociales diferentes (forestaría, pastoreo, agricultura, caza y recreación). En este trabajo se señalan asimismo las actividades que actualmente constituyen las amenazas más significativas para la integridad estructural y funcional de los ecosistemas de esta ANP. De no atenderse estos problemas a través de un plan de manejo, estará en riesgo la integridad y estado de salud de estos ecosistemas y en consecuencia los servicios ambientales que estos ecosistemas proporcionan."
dc.description"The objective of this chapter is to describe the main aspects of the structure and functioning of the ecosystems of the Natural Protected Area Sierra Fria (NPASF), located in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico. This region has legal protection since the end of the 1940’s, nevertheless, it has still not generated a management program. The NPASF includes a significant biological diversity, which offers environmental services that are very important for the welfare of the inhabitants of the regions surrounding it. However, to date, the ecosystems included in the NPASF are threatened by a wide range of disturbances, such as droughts, fires, overgrazing, changes in the use of the land and presence of damaging biological agents, so that the elaboration of a management and conservation program, which must guide, order and determine the activities to be carried out by the different sectors that participate in the region, has become a priority. For the development of this management program, an integrated approach at the scale of the landscape, with a participatory and flexible approach, has been proposed. This type of approach puts emphasis on learning and social collaboration activities. The management at the landscape scale is necessary to secure the use and conservation of the ecosystems, with tactics and actions directed towards the sustainability and the preservation of the NPASF, which has different economical and social uses (forestry, grazing, agriculture, hunting and recreation). This work also identifies the activities that currently constitute the most significant threats to the structural and functional integrity of the ecosystems of the ANP. If these problems are not corrected through a management plan, there will be a significant risk to the integrity and health of these ecosystems and consequently to the environmental services that these provide."
