dc.description"A partir de 1997 el aprovechamiento del Agave (Agave salmiana ssp crassispina) en la región sureste del estado de Zacatecas, Méx. Se ha incrementado considerablemente; sin embargo, no ha sido notable un incremento económico y mejoras en el bienestar social de la población humana. Por representar un caso especial de uso del recurso en esta región se realizó un estudio para estimar el desempeño de la sustentabilidad de la actividad forestal. En este trabajo se incluye la utilización de atributos poblacionales de una especie sujeta a aprovechamiento comercial (Agave), los cuales por su importancia tienen un elevado peso específico en el comportamiento de un índice de sustentabilidad construido. La metodología desarrollada es adecuada para evaluar el desempeño de la sustentabilidad de cualquier especie silvestre que se encuentre bajo sistemas de aprovechamiento comercial."
dc.description"Since 1997, the use of Agave has been increased; however, economical or social welfare has not been increased in rural populations. Therefore, this study looks at the utilization of the sustainable forestry activity, using, as a model, the exploitation of agave (Agave salmaiana ssp crassispina) in the southeast of Zacatecas state, Mexico. The study includes the use of population attributes of this important plant, which has a specific weight on the sustainability index. This methodology can be used on any species, plant or animal, terrestrial or aquatic that is currently under commercial exploitation."
