dc.description"El proceso de cambio denominado desarrollo se aborda desde muy diferentes disciplinas y perspectivas y parece contener varias y diversas, dimensiones, escalas, criterios e indicadores, que sirven para conocer el grado de avance en el tránsito hacia el desarrollo sustentable. Tal vez alcanzarlo sea una quimera y probablemente no sea posible llegar a establecer las condiciones mínimas que nos garanticen acceder al desarrollo sustentable. Sin embargo, aún en ese caso sigue siendo una base de partida importante, considerar los aspectos económicos, sociales y ambientales a la hora de considerar el desarrollo. Existen muchas propuestas y de muy diverso contenido sobre las políticas e instrumentos que definen las acciones para transitar hacia la senda del desarrollo sustentable. El presente capítulo tiene el propósito de brindar una panorámica general sobre los diversos aspectos que involucra el desarrollo sustentable. La organización del trabajo tiene el orden siguiente. Después de un breve repaso a las dimensiones y las disciplinas que contiene el desarrollo y la sustentabilidad, se realiza, en la segunda parte un análisis de las perspectivas teóricas que abordan el crecimiento y desarrollo endógeno sobre la convergencia o divergencia. En el tercer apartado se aborda el tema de las escalas del desarrollo para posteriormente presentar un breve repaso a los indicadores del desarrollo sustentable, para luego discutir algunas tendencias sobre el estilo mexicano de desarrollo actual y las políticas que posiblemente nos permitan transitar hacia trayectorias de desarrollo más sustentables."
dc.description"The process of change, expressed as development, may be undertaken by many different disciplines and perspectives. It may appear to have numerous and diverse dimensions, scales, criteria or indicators that are useful in understanding the degree of advance towards what is called sustainable development. Perhaps, reaching sustainable development is an impossible goal, where it is not yet possible to establish the minimum conditions that will lead to this objective. Nevertheless, in the worst of situations it is an aspiration that can serve as an indicator when considering the economic, social and environmental aspects of development. There are, in existence, very diverse proposals dealing with political and instrumental aspects meant to steer development towards the road to sustainability. The purpose of this chapter is to present a panoramic understanding of the general aspects involved in working towards sustainable development."
